Editorial Policy

We write every description and guide on this site ourselves, from the specification we publish for the product. The name on a card is ours: a hundred-character title serves a search box, not a person choosing something.

Where a specification is silent, we leave the line out rather than filling it with something plausible. A measurement nobody measured is worse than no measurement.

Where health or safety is involved we read the public guidance ourselves, quote it word for word, and print the date we read it beside the link.

Every figure on a piece page comes from what the maker publishes about that piece: the letter, the tone, the plating, the chain, what is in the box. We round nothing up and invent nothing to fill a gap.

Where a figure is the maker's own claim rather than a published standard, the sentence says so. The words hypoallergenic, nickel free and lead free are claims of that kind.

Ratings stand as they are on the piece. We never add them up across letters, because a family of letters shares one pool of ratings.
